Just had a fantastic two days. Began with a few Stien'ies, and then right on noon began the ascent of 1800m or so Ben Lomond Mountain. Rather than pay the 15dollars to ascend, whats perhaps the toughtest part, to the Skyline, we decide to walk. Absolutley knackered!! I also start to get a certain tingle in my feet, not good me thinks. Anywho.. on we go.. regular stops for Tomas and I.. till we finally reach the top. By now, I've realised that my bike boots, which I've not wore in over a year, are tearing the feet off me. So begins the descent, agony, whilst the rest of em run blissfully down. All in all, and absolutley great days walking.. despite that fact that I'm now left with two very blistered feet.

Today, my housemate Simon, took me for a cruise through Skippers Canyon, right down to the old schoolhouse. The Shatz mobile was well up for it, did tear the arse outta her once or twice, but she loved it! You really get a sense of how remote the South Island is once ya get outta Queenstown, not a mobile phone mast in sight. Many scenes from the Lord of the Rings were filmed along that route, and it's no wonder.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to get one or two more similiar days out before I leave for Melbourne.. till then, CHOICE ;)

Took a trip over to Invarcargill, passed by the Kingston Flyer on the way. This train, dating from 1927, trundles along the 14km track from Kingston to Fairlight. There's quite a few of these old trains running in New Zealand, tis good to see they've not completely written them off just yet!

At home again, wasted! Happy hour, KFC, sleep. Summer coming on here.. bout bloody time. It's gonna be quiet for a few weeks, then all sorts of madness instore. Still on track, Melbourne after Xmas, start afresh. Lstening to Xaviar Rudd - To Let, what a great album, (for a convict) lol!! :)

Back home in Queenstown, away from the city life! Melbourne is a great city, something going on everyday. Hopefully move over there in a few months time, will see how things transpire!

In Melbourne, hanging with Bernie in East Brunswick. I'll let her typr from here... (cue Bernie).. Shane has got a very big week ahead of him. Tomorrow he is going to ride a tram and go to McDonalds for a 'happy meal'. This Saturday he will be able to experience all the delights that Ballarat has to offer and will be looking for a job so that he can stay here longer :-).

Right so, due to constant queries about lack of updates, I'll get my arse in gear, and scribble something. Down in Queenstown, been here now for about 3 months. Things are going well, Queenstown is a party town, small little spot, more pubs than than ya can shake a stick at. Happy hour is the key! Working away in a small computer shop, just about enuf to pay rent and bills. So the plan would be to enjoy the summer here, and after that... who knows!?! Will upload some pics of Queenstown soon, as soon as the weather improves.

Finally made it to New Zealand. Catching up with the cousins at the mo, much has happened since I last saw them in London. Gonna try and get my ass onto college campus next couple of days, and upload me pics. Took longer than I had thought to sort through 'em, resize thumbnails etc etc. So check back soon. btw it's freezing to N.Z., I want to go back to Bali.... nah gonna have a shot at snow boarding... so get the casts ready :)

Will try and get the site updated once I pick up my laptop, which is in Sydney, and get to somewhere with a decent connection. For now browse away through whats there, I may have to remove some older pictures in order to upload all my Malaysia/Indo/W.A. pictures. Haven't even got to New Zealand yet... more photos

The site is almost finished now... few more touches and she's good to go.

Good timing also, cause as ye can see from pic below, I'm outta here 8th Feb.

The plan is to meet up with Harry back in Bangok, and spent a night or two there. He tells me he has two bags on standby, so knock back a few Singa's in his place, a wee toot or several, then down to Ko San Rd. I'm gonna stand out like a sore thumb, spot the n00b... having worked nights for the past year, any tan I brought back last time has well faded by now.

So I'm thinking maybe a week down in Ko Tao, see how much more a 'bbq' costs compared to year later, and apply the Irish tan - burnt to a crisp!!

My travel plans for after that would go something along the lines of;

Train from Surat Thani to Penang – 2 nights in Penang
Ferry to Medan – 3 nights Lake Toba
Overland to Jakarta
Fly from Jakarta to Ambon – 2 nights Ambon
Ferry from Ambon to either Kai or the Banda islands

Hopefully I'll have the bones of a month to spare after that... so chill out in Oz, then onto New Zealand!!
